2009-2010

Negotiations Results
In October 2009 members of WEA approved a tentative agreement with the district.

The key components include:

bullet

Teachers -- steps and horizontal moves will be paid.

bullet

ESP -- steps will be paid.

bullet

An increase in the district contribution to insurance coverage to $365.38 and dental to $30.69

bullet

Teachers
bullet

Teaching Assignments:

New language added that when teaching assignments are changed due to enrollment changes, such changes will be made whenever possible within the first two weeks after school opens or following winter break.

bullet

Transfers/Change in assignments:  

New language adds special education, ELL and similar teachers to have timely advanced notice of their assignments for the following school year and to the same procedures used by building teachers when it comes to transfers and involuntary re-assignments.

MOU: Special Education and Ell procedures:  The MOU spells out that the district will survey Special Education and ELL teachers by March 15th regarding their preferences for assignments for the following year.

bullet

Extra Duty Schedule: $27000 will be set aside to implement any recommendations to enhance or modify the extra duty compensation system.

bullet

ESP:
bullet

ESP Handbook: The ESP Handbook will be included as an Appendix to the contract.

bullet

Longevity:  Increased to $1000.

bullet

Reclassification Committee:
bullet

Bus Monitors will be moved to AUX/TECH 1.1

bullet

Bus Dispatcher will be moved to AUX/TECH 3.2

bullet

HVAC and Electrician job descriptions will be modified to "licensed."

bullet

Elementary Librarians will be moved to Instructional 04, positions will also be reviewed by the District and WEA for uniformity of job duties.

bullet

Hodgkins custodian will be moved to AUX/TECH 4.2.  Parties will collaboratively determine a new system for custodial pay based on square footage rather than grade levels.

bullet

Master Mechanic moved to middle management and receive a stipend.

bullet

Review on how to cmpensate custodians who assume responsibilities of head custodians.

bullet

Director of Special Services will review and recommend compensation for Sped Ed Instructional assistant positions

bullet

Secretary to High School and Year Round Principals will be moved to a 260-day contract

bullet

Job Descriptions: Parties will work with NEA to update job descriptions using the Results Oriented Job descriptions model.  Up to $5000 will be set aside to fund this collaborative venture.

Assignment Notice: New addition to the contract that requires the distrcit to give all ESP notice no later than May 15th of their assignment for the following school.  If not possible, district will advise the employee of the date when the notice will be sent.

bullet

Injury Rehires Seniority: Any non-probationary ESP who is rehired by the District with on year from the date of separation because of permanent restrictions as a result of on-the-job injury shall retain his/her original seniority date.

bullet

Reclassification 2009-2010: $27,000 will be set aside to implement any recommendations to enhance or modify the ESP classification compensation system or classification appeals.
