Negotiations

2008-2009

Negotiations Results
In May 2008 members of WEA approved a tentative agreement with the district.

The key components include:

Teachers -- every step/salary will be increased by 1.25%.

bullet

ESP -- every step/hourly will be increased by $1.25 per hour.

bullet

An increase in the district contribution to insurance coverage to $351.10

bullet

Teachers and School ESP will be paid on an August to July cycle.

Cumulative Leave/WEA President:

The extra day that was negotiated to pay for the WEA President is removed and the savings will be used to cover release time for the WEA President.. WEA members will therefore no longer have to donate days.

Extra Duty Schedule:  the recommendations of the task force for placements have been agreed upon.

bullet

New School Core Team: The District will develop Administrative Procedures by 11/1/08 including the size, timing of appointment, release time and/or compensation

bullet

Horizontal Moves: Horizontal moves will be implemented in September or January provided the teacher submits the evidence required under Article 34-14 (class registration, cancelled check, grade report, statement from instructor. Official transcript is still due within 90 days).

Elementary Plan Time: Superintendent will provide a memo to WEA on planning time and collaboration for elementary teachers.

New Staff Development Days: For the additional days beyond the current four in the contract, the District and WEA will work collaboratively to plan and implement district days and building administrators will work collaboratively with their faculty to plan and implement any building days. “Teacher needs” will also be added to the statement of intent on how to use these days.

ESP:

Reclassification Committee: All of the recommendations of the task force will be implemented. The Committee also recommended that a market study be done and as a result new hourly rate columns are added to the schedule. Custodians will move to AUX/TEC 01.1; Head Custodians at the Elementary and Bus Drivers will move to AUX/TEC 03.1; Grounds Specialists will move to AUX/TEC 03.2; Driver and Custodial Trainers will move to AUX/TEC 04.1; Head Custodians at the Secondary will move to AUX/TEC 04.2; Sprinkler Technician, Carpenter and Mechanics will move to AUX/TEC 04.3. The AUX/TEC 05 schedule was also improved for these classifications. Placement on the new columns/schedules will be the same as the placement of teachers on their new schedule: Employees affected will get their step and $1.25 COLA adjustment and then move to the next higher rate on the new schedule. This may be the same step or a different step on the new schedule.

Longevity:  Increased to $800.

Hours/Days: School based staff minimum hours and/or days will be increased as follows: Secretary to the Principal - Add 10 days; Office Assistants - Add 10 days; Librarians (Elementary) 7.5 hours 185 days; Library Clerk - 7.5 hours 185 days; Inst. Asst SPED - 7.5 hours 181 days; Building Aide - 7.5 hours 181 days; Inst Asst Gen Ed - 7.5 hours 181 days; Inst Aide ELL - 7.5 hours 181 days; Kitchen Mangers - Add 6 days; Kitchen Aides - Add 4 days

Class Coverage: ESP covering a class will get an additional $4.00 per hour.

Vacation: Full year, full time staff will get 4 weeks vacation after 12 years.

Cumulative Leave/WEA President: WEA members will no longer have to donate days.
