2007-2008

Negotiations Results
In May 2007 members of WEA approved a tentative agreement with the district.

The key components include:

bullet

Teachers placed on the $40K/$80 schedule.

bullet

ESP salary will increase 70 cents per hour at each step.

bullet

An increase in the district contribution to insurance coverage to $345.03.

bullet

Maternity Leave current practices added to the contract

bullet

Superintendent  policies will be modified to include provisions for opening new schools

bullet

Teachers:

- Lottery will be suspended as a pilot program

- Every effort will me made to post vacancies for new schools prior to the end of March

- Staff input is considered in evaluating new and /or existing programs

- Student discipline article is modified to ensure that the AR and Principal meet each year to discuss implementation of student discipline.

bullet

ESP:

- WEA release days for ESP staff will apply the rate amount paid for unused days.

- Handbook will be modified to include a provision to create floater positions to cover absent Special Education Paraeducators.

- Interpreter pay for after hours work will be the same for ESP as for teachers.
